Another solution to the above problem:
d.setmonth(month,day)

where month is the month that you want to set, and day is the date..  By default, it sets month according to the current date, in my case 30th June. So it tried to change it to 30th feb which got changed to 2nd march. By giving date in the function we override the current date.

Ofcourse this is assuming that the user will not input 30th february..
